THE EVENT

The evening kicked off with a 2 hour VIP pre-concert reception located at the luxurious Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel where over 75 VIP guests were treated to heavy hors d’oeuvres, an open bar, and numerous perks, including an authentic limited-edition commemorative concert poster created by Red Flannel, VIP concert tickets, a Meet-&-Greet with all three bands, and designer Rockin’ With Spirit  themed mini cupcakes created by Confections of a Rock$tar

At 6:30 p.m. everyone moved over to rock out to a packed house at Asbury Park’s legendary music venue, the Stone Pony, hosted by Jersey Shore’s classic rock station 105.7 The Hawk’s very own morning DJ, Chris Varacchi. (See more of Chris Varacchi’s experience at our event here.)

The Nick Clemons Band opened the show at 7:00 p.m. for a 45 minute set, followed by Donovan Chapman & Band, who played a 75 minutes set. The Marshall Tucker Band closed out the event concert with a spectacular 2 hour set!

Following the concert, the bands were gracious enough to stick around and take part in a post concert Meet-&-Greet opportunity where Spirit of a Child Foundation concert goers/supporters were able to interact with the bands, get signed autographs, and take pictures.

WHO IT HELPED?

The event will help fund Spirit of a Child’s yearly Parent-Child Projects. These projects are environmental education based retreats allowing selected families in difficult situations the chance to work together and build healthy communication skills, furthering Spirit of a Child’s mission of “We Help Families Grow Stronger.”

In addition the Spirit of a Child’s projects, The Stone Pony was specifically chosen as this year’s event location to bring business back to the Jersey shore after the devastating effects felt by Hurricane Sandy. As said by then Asbury Park mayor, Ed Johnson,

“Their [Spirit of a Child Foundation’s] work is critical to our overall efforts to rebuild the spirit and hope of our children and families after Superstorm Sandy. This past year we learned the importance of working together to support each other in our time of need. We learned that together, we as a community- our children and families- are Stronger Than Any Storm!”

 …

Other amazing foundations also came out to support Spirit of a Child, once again, highlighting the importance of working together! Spirit of a Child was delighted to have the support of Squanstrong and S.U.R.F.

THANK YOU!!!

Thank you to everyone who made Spirit of a Child’s 1st annual major fund-raising event not only a huge success, but also an amazingly good time! Keep a look out for next year’s event where we plan to be moving from the Jersey Shore to Sunny Florida!
