2014 Parent-Child Weekend Held in St. George Island, FL

Every year the Spirit of a Child Foundation sponsors a trip for individuals from families in need to some of the most beautiful areas in the United States. This year the Spirit of a Child Foundation’s goal is to take a parent and a child from 10 families for and weekend long adventure at “Journeys of St. George Island” in Florida. This enlightening experience, for families who seldom get the chance, will include kayaking and hiking trips where our guests will learn to identify local marine life, bird watch and observe other native “Forgotten Coast” wildlife. Our guests will also take part in fishing expeditions in the bay and on the grass flats. In the evenings, families will be treated to music and stories around the warmth of a campfire.

In order to make this a reality for these special families, the foundation needs to raise a total of $8,000. The generosity of many people and businesses helped our Rockin’ With Spirit Concert raise $2,280. We need your help with the rest. Please consider donating to our Foundation and give these children and parents an opportunity to experience the gift of nature while building bonds that will be remembered for a lifetime.

The Spirit of a Child Foundation believes that building better parent/child relationships will prevent at-risk children from eventually dropping out of school, leading to higher rates of crime, abuse and poverty. These children CAN grow up with the tools to break these cycles when given the right chance and a gift that only mother nature and you can give.
